Briza Perez

My name is Briza Perez and I am Griffin Academy High’s Associated Student Body President. I have been attending Griffin Academy High since my freshman year back in 2020. I have never been one to get deeply involved in my school, I always complained about why something was this way and not the other way around. In the 10th grade a friend who was an advocate for the students at Griffin, invited me into her ASB committee. I obviously said no, as I was an introvert, don’t get me wrong, I still am. She went against my request and put me in it, either way, it was one of the best decisions she could’ve ever made for me. In the 11th grade after a lot of thinking I decided to run for ASB President, as it was our first year having a senior class, and surprisingly, I won! Within the past two years, I've become part of something that feels like home. My main goal this year is to stand as an advocate for the students at Griffin Academy High, to expand my connections, and to give others the same feeling of familiarity and acceptance that I got upon joining our Griffin community. This year I will be applying to UC Irvine, UC Davis, CSU Chico, UC Merced, CSU Sacramento, and San Francisco State University. Be on the lookout for my acceptance into one of these universities and if you ever see me around don’t hesitate to say hello!

GriffinAcademyAttendanceMatters!!

Dear Parents,

As part of our ongoing focus on improving school attendance, we frequently monitor the attendance of all pupils in school. This year’s expectation, set by the District, is that attendance should be above 97%. From now on, if your child's attendance drops below 91%, you will receive a letter notifying you that we will be closely monitoring your child's attendance.

Punctuality Matters too! As a school, we are aware lateness can severely affect achievement. We monitor punctuality closely and have structured timings to help you get your child to school on time. School gates open at 6:30 am for pupil drop off. School starts at 8:30 am and pupils are expected to be in class at this time. Lateness is recorded at 8:50 am and if late after 8:50 am then your child will be marked as absent for the morning session.

Attendance is essential and counts every single day. To improve attendance we will begin having monthly competitions between classes and grades as a fun way to have fun and incentivize positive attendance.
