Riffat Akram, School Director
Greetings!
I am very excited and truly honored for the opportunity to serve the GTA community. Vallejo has always been very close to my heart for its unique blend of diversity and potential among its youth. For that reason I’m delighted to be back in Vallejo once again!
My purpose in becoming an educator is to focus on developing rigorous academic programs, systems to maintain high-quality instructions in every classroom, targeted assessments, and tiered interventions to meet individual needs.I am dedicated to leading the Professional Learning Communities to enhance our teachers' capacities by providing the training and support they need to continue growing as great instructional leaders in the classrooms.
I want to take this opportunity to share my background briefly. I have the Certificate of School Leadership & Management from Harvard University, Administrative Services Credentials from Saint Mary's University and Master of Education in Curriculum Development & Bachelor of Biology/Genetics from CSU East Bay.
My career as an educator extends over 19 years, during which I have experienced working in private, public, and charter school districts. I have taught Science, Math, and AP Bio at middle & high school levels.I worked for four years as Curriculum, Instruction, & Academic Affairs Coordinator in a K-12 public charter school district in East Bay.
Before joining Griffin Tech Academies, I led a middle school in a Public Charter Schools District in Alameda County for four years. Under my leadership, the school received California Pivotal Practice Award for 2020-21SY and California Distinguished School Award for 2021-22 SY.
Being a mother of three wonderful kids in college and elementary school, I understand the importance of home & school partnerships in a child's education. I want to invite GTA families to strengthen our partnership and look forward to meeting you all very soon. I want to extend my confidence in GTA families, teachers & staff that, as a team, we will have the passion and the ability to help all kids thrive at GTA.
Respectfully,
Riffat Akram
