About Griffin Academy

Our School

Griffin Academy Middle and High School is a public charter school offering courses to grades 6-12. Griffin Middle School was granted their charter in 2018 and the high school the year after.  Griffin Academy staff is committed to providing each student with a comprehensive education, Summit Learning Platform, a school-wide Avid program and the support needed to be college and career ready.

Griffin Academy is proud to be the First Early College High School serving students 9th-12th grades in Vallejo.  During their four years at our school, students have the opportunity to earn up to 30 transferable college units, prior to receiving their high school diplomas.

Rather than bringing a high school student to a college campus to take the class, Griffin Academy is bringing college to the high school space to provide an extended course of study with extensive coaching and support through mentorship and a certificated academic counselor. GA offers college classes as a part of their high school curriculum, adapted to create a more supportive environment developmentally appropriate for adolescents.

The Early College High School program helps ease the transition into college as well as sets them up for success. This is especially true for students from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education, as well as the first-generation college students who tend to struggle the most with this transition.

GA is also rooted in Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) principles and is committed to an AVID school-wide model through its emphasis on leadership, systems, instruction, and culture.

Griffin Academy graduates, mostly,  go directly into a four-year university, bringing their community college units with them and placing themselves well into their freshman and sophomore years at the college level.

In addition to the opportunity to earn college units, Griffin Academy offers students:

  • A serious educational environment where students can take control of their own learning.
  • A more flexible and smaller learning environment with opportunities to explore individual interests through a greater range of classes, within both the high school and college environments.
  • A supportive environment in a close-knit community of teachers and students, where students have greater opportunities for guidance and personal improvement.
  • The occasion to develop successful skills for college education.

School Colors/Mascot
